IDGA is focused on developing youth and promoting the dairy goat industry in Indiana and beyond.
Sunday, October 3rd 10am
We are thrilled to report that this year, the IDGA will be offering a little something for everyone within all ranges of Caprine experience. The Conference will be kicking off with a prompt start at 10am with a management rotation including hoof-trimming, FAMACHA scoring, blood drawing. This morning session will be geared towards the newer herd owners. There will be a team of more veteran breeders to assist you with basic management and care.
At 11am is a presentation on udder health and mastitis prevention by the manufacturer of the new VIMCO mastitis vaccine by Hipra. Pablo Núñez Ulibarri, DVM, Corporate Brand Manager Small Ruminants. This session is strongly suggested for all dairy breeders.
Lunch will be provided by IDGA, and at that time, the Indiana Youth Dairy Goat Association will be recognizing the top showman of the year.
The awards ceremony will be followed by reproductive technologies and issues/health starting at 1pm with Dr Chris Rumsey from StockVets.
There will then be a short organizational meeting with Hoosier Classic treasurer report and 2022 judge selection on the agenda which will commence at 3pm. This is NOT a closed meeting and everyone is welcome to attend. We would be pleased to have you to sit in.
New! First and only mastitis vaccine USDA approved for use in dairy and meat goats.
VIMCO® targets Staphylococcus aureus and CNS (Coagulase Negative Staphylococci), the bacteria most commonly associated with mastitis.
Implementation of a mastitis control program is an essential step in improving milk quality and preventing infection.
