November 2020 Meeting

Indiana Dairy Association met on Sunday November 15, 2020 at the Hendricks County Fairgrounds in Danville, Indiana.


Officers that were present

January meetings minutes were passed out and accepted.
Treasure Report Rob Smith reported balances and accepted.

State Fair Report
2020 Modified State Fair 4-H show–84 exhibitors 54 seniors 52 juniors 32 wethers.
Livestreaming would approximately cost $2500. Tina is looking into actual cost. The photographer Things to look at in the future. More tablets to do check in at the pens. The number of animals each exhibitor would be able to enter.
Possibilities of moving Pros—It would be before school starts. Disinfection would not have to be done. Sheep barn. Be able to attend other State Fairs. Would not have to deal with the draft horse.
Cons—all pens would have to be put back together. Some County fairs could have conflict. National ends only 6 days before Introduce it to the scheduling committee and see where it goes

Hoosier Classic

We were re-awarded the Alpine Specialty. Discussion about a secondary specialty. Talk of one person in charge of each specialty. Crystal Servies made the motion that we apply for the Oberhasli specialty Evy Ingle second. Motion passed. Becky Brummage is working on the awards. Medals for the Peewee. She has found a limestone plaque in the shape of Indiana, Discussion about additional ring for 2022. Crystal Servies will bring the guidelines for a premier breeder guidelines to the January meeting.
Erin Dearing approached the membership about hosting a fitting contest on Friday night. Evy made the motion and Motion passed.
Jason Servies will working Raffle Kids.
Fundraising
UltraSound Machine and 50/50 raffle was discussed.

Youth
The Showmanship Series will go on in 2021 as long as show season goes on.
She also asked for permission to do the adult showmanship at the Hoosier Classic as fundraiser also
The motion was made and approved

Election
Nominations were opened for President. Brenda Lightner was nominated. Bonnie Robbins was nominated.
Brenda Lightner was elected.
Crystal Servies was nominated and elected Secretary
Directors that was nominated
David Ingle, Mike Summerlot, Erin Dearing, Carolyn Perkins, and Jenifer Crooks.

March 2020 Meeting

Indiana Dairy Association met on Sunday March 1, 2020 at the Communication Building at the Indiana State Grounds in Indianapolis, Indiana.  

Officers present are

President—Bonnie Robbins   Vice President—Steve Hubbard  Secretary—Crystal Servies  Treasure—Rob Smith

Directors—David Ingle, Becky Brummage, Diana Hubbard and Brenda Lightner

January meetings minutes were passed out and accepted.

Treasure Report Rob Smith reported balances and accepted.   There was some discussion of a CD.

State Fair Report 

If you sponsored a trophy for State Fair Show please pay Rob Smith.

Barn Camera Raffle  They did not get back with us in time to start and sell tickets

Hoosier Classic

We were awarded the Alpine Specialty 

Evy and David Ingle and Teena Spear are cleaning of the wording on the show packet.

Becky Brummage is working on awards.  Medals for the Peewee.  She has found a limestone plaque in the shape of Indiana,  Motion was made and approved for her to move.  

Jason Servies is working raffle kids and auction items.

Erin Dearing asked to have permission to raffle a quilt at the Hoosier Classic as a fundraiser for their program.  

She also asked for permission to do the adult showmanship at the Hoosier Classic as fundraiser also

The motion was made and approved

April will be the Youth Representative presentations and putting the show packet together

Show Chairmen please send 15 copies, electronic copy and a $15 check.

January 2020 Meeting

Indiana Dairy Association met on Sunday January 5, 2020 at the Hendricks County 4-H Conference Center in Danville Indiana. The meeting opened with Liz Straw from the Indiana State Dairy Association holding a certification class for the DHIR program. It was well attended with 40 people in attendance.

Barn Camera Raffle has been approved and accepted and move forward

Hoosier Classic
Judges are confirmed Robin Saum and Anne McKeever Clagett
Sables will be added to the Sanctioning
Teena is working on the Specialty.
Rotation of the Judges not animals for Rings was discussed. The proposal was approved.
Jason Servies is still working raffle kids.
The idea of a premier exhibitor and premier breeder was presented on being award. The ideas was discussed. $250 for exhibitor and $100 for breeder. Carolyn Arney will help write a program to figure points.
Claire Smith has offered a to donate some director chairs to use as prizes.

State Fair
All the staff is coming back. Teena is looking for a volunteer for Thursday morning.

Youth
Any Show that is interested in participating let Nikki and Erin
Nikki reported that they are updating rules.

Hoosier Classic
Contracts have been sent and not back yet. Working on the specialty. We need clarification on Buck
Show. Discussion was held to Sanction Alpine and ND and then rest AOP. Put statement in that if
numbers justify, they will be sanctioned separately. Motioned made and passed. Discussion was held
about the judges changing rings and not the animals. This discussion was tabled til next month. Jason
Servies is working Raffle Kids.

Fundraising
Jason Servies will contact Riverwind Barn Camera on a quote for the price of a system.

Web Page
The goDaddy site is been taken down and the domain switched to Host Gator.
Questions–Do we want full contact information on the website
After discussion the membership form will be have options on what people want public.
Do we want minutes on the website? The decision was to have them on the website
Mass emails will be used as meeting reminders.

Other Business
Bonnie would like to set up two committees Membership committee and a fall conference committee
A membership committee to aid in building the membership and find out what they would like for the
dues

The committee would like to have suggested for topics.
Some suggestion to improve meetings was brought. Is an education time prior to meeting?
Introductions?
Discussion was made about getting LIz Straw from the State Dairy Association for DHIA certification
Steve Hubbard has offered if there was a central location, he would do TB testing for those going to
Nationals and it would be a potential fundraiser. It would have to be a like a Thursday and Sunday. It
was table for further discussion.
Mike Summerlot brought the grant and maybe that we need to network to be able to get the grant
money that apply for. We will work on the grant prior to the September deadline
